THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to all our Olympathon participants and winners! In addition to individual prizes and most-raised in specific grades, there was a competition between classes for the most funds raised. Kudos to all the students who participated in our biggest fundraising event of the year:
- 1st place = 2nd Grade
- 2nd place = Kindergarten
- 3rd place = 1st Grade
- 4th place = 3rd Grade
- 5th place = 4th Grade
- 6th place = 5th Grade
What is it?
Join us for our biggest event of the year: the Olympathon!
We have teamed up with The Original Get Movin’ Crew© and Texas Fit Kids to make this event fun and profitable by providing a brand new obstacle course experience with flat donations (rather than pledges for laps, as in previous years).
Watch this cool video to see some of what will happen at the Olympathon.
What is it for?
The PTA is raising funds this year for an outdoor learning environment and gardens, student programs, and generous teacher grants for special learning materials. The Olympathon represents the main fundraising event of the year. Please help us to reach our goal of at least $75 per child in donations. Our total goal for the Olympathon is $45,000.
When is it?
Students will participate in the Olympathon event outside in the Phillips field on Friday, September 30, during Specials periods. All parents and family members are welcome to come cheer on their student! Check your student’s Specials schedule for exact times.
What is the obstacle course?
In addition to providing overall physical fitness, gross and perceptual motor development, and bilateral coordination, obstacle courses are FUN! The Texas Fit Kids Olympathon course includes a variety of age-appropriate obstacles grouped by grade groups.
Kindergarten – 1st Grade
- Pool noodle run
- Half-size pyramid climb overs
- Small hurdles
- Crawl unders
2nd – 5th Grade
- Tire run
- Full-size pyramid climb overs
- Large hurdles
- Crawl unders
For students with disabilities, the course will have “pass-throughs” to bypass the obstacle station.
Every student will receive a ribbon of completion.
How does the fundraising work?
Your student should have received a pledge packet with information on the event and how to ask family members, friends and community leaders for donations. Donations can be in any increment.
All students are encouraged to strive for an individual donation goal of $75.
How do I set up my student and collect donations?
Visit www.thegetmovincrew.com and click Get Registered Parent Login to register, add your student and start collecting donations online. You can also collect cash and check donations using the donation envelope and form in your student’s Olympathon packet.
Note that there is a processing fee for online payments, which can be donated to the fund at checkout. Make checks payable to Phillips Elementary PTA.
Once you have your student’s page set up, you can share it with friends and family via email, Facebook or whatever you choose! Use the student fundraising webpage to promote online donations using the sharing tools right on your student’s donation page.
What are the donation prizes?
Every student who registers will receive a temporary tattoo, and a cool t-shirt to wear on Olympathon day (and Field Day at the end of the school year) and one free entry ticket for a FitBit drawing. T-shirts will be distributed on the event day.
There are additional prizes for overall donations raised, such as:
- $30 = a pedometer to wear on Olympathon day + one free entry ticket to the FitBit drawing
- $75 = drawstring backpack to hold gear on Olympathon day + one free entry ticket to the FitBit drawing
- $250 = fun hopper ball + one free entry ticket to the FitBit drawing
- $500 = Razor scooter, Superstar medal and lunch with Principal Solomon + one free entry ticket to the FitBit drawing
In addition to individual awards, there are also classroom and total school prizes for meeting specific goals. Check out more of the fun prizes available for raising Olympathon funds!
When are donations due?
You can start collecting donations as soon as you register your student. The first set of donations will be collected on the Olympathon event date: September 30. The remaining deadlines are:
- Friday, October 7 – last day for online payments and student eligibility for donation prizes
- Thursday, October 20 – final day for cash/check collection (turn in to the front office)
What can we do besides donate?
You can help sort and count t-shirts to distribute to classes, or provide bottled water to a classroom on event day. Sign up for whatever you can give. We appreciate it!
