About the Fun Run

The Frisco Education Foundation Gary Burns Annual Fun Run is a one-mile fun run/walk and 5K certified race held at Toyota Stadium. Each year, the event features food, entertainment and other family-friendly activities, including a guest appearance by the City of Frisco Fire Clowns.

The event is named for former Frisco Assistant Fire Chief Gary Burns, who died of colon cancer in 1999. Burns was known for his support of students and often donated clothing, athletic equipment, money, meals and time to help less fortunate children in our community.

Proceeds from the Fun Run benefit scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship Fund, and innovative teacher grants that support teaching and learning in the classroom.

Each year, FEF partners with the City of Frisco Environmental Services Department to limit trash and encourage the use of recycle bins and compost containers during the Fun Run. The effort saves hundreds of pounds of recyclable and compostable materials from being diverted from the landfill.
